Portals In front of concrete walls Windows posing as mirrors Mirrors impersonating windows Echos returning Obvious statements multiplying Uncomfortable truths vanishing Squandered By the weight of nuance Suffocated By the fear of shattering identities Under the pressure of opinions Confused as egos The desire for certainty For approval and self-indulgence Nurtured by the echo Sounding on and on Seemingly Living a one-opinion reality In a polarised world Stepping out of my reality Conversing with others Accompanied by the fear Of using the wrong word Of being cancelled Not up to speed Not critical enough Foolish Unworthy Without engagement Shot back into my Echo chamber Where once again We will learn Nothing From one another Where are the people I disagree with Who welcome me In their spaces Where are the friends Who cherish clashing views Within polar realities How do I kindly Hold an opposing opinion Stretching The window of tolerance Into a wide open space For us To be in Differently Worthy Lovingly Disagreeing Learning Together
